Solutions for Ignition Cylinder Problems

Parma LocksmithToday, we are impressed with the new features that new models of vehicles offer. Most manufacturers probably figure that it’s important to offer impressive features to entice buyers. Anything that is mechanical is prone to problems every now and then. If you are a motorist then it is likely that you’ll experience some type of problems from time to time. When a motorist is neglecting routine maintenance, they are sure to experience their fair share of problems. Those who experience one problem after another may find themselves in trouble financially. If they are spending even small amounts of money on repairs, this can add up to huge financial loses.

This can also create a problem for the motorist. When the key is not cut properly it could prevent the key from entering the ignition or coming out. In either case, this can become a serious problem and that it why it is a good idea to rely on a locksmith to determine why you’re experiencing the problem. The last thing that you would want to do is over react and cause damage to your ignition. Unfortunately, this is something that our locksmiths encounter every day.

Here are a few things that we have found helpful in carefully and successfully removing your key from the ignition when the car is on:

Exam the dashboard – If you look at your dashboard, you might notice that the gearshift is off. Make sure the indicator is in ‘park’. If it is not then it will be impossible for the key to turn in the ignition.

Loosen the key – Be careful about how you remove the key from the ignition. The best and most effective way to remove the key is to gently wiggle it out. If this doesn’t work, call a locksmith.

Evaluate the gears – The vehicle will need to be in the ‘park’ position. When in the drive position, you won’t be able to remove the key from the ignition.

If you have turned your car off and it is in ‘park’ here are the best ways to remove the key from the ignition if it is stuck:

Check the battery – We know that this seems too easy to work but trust us when we tell you that it works like a charm. If you have a dead battery, you will not be able to remove the key from the ignition. This serves as a protection to you. In fact, when you call on a locksmith to assist, the first thing they will check is to see if you have a dead battery. If you do, they can usually handle it right away and get you back on the road.
Loosen the Key – Again, as suggested above, gently wiggle the key back and forth the safely and effectively remove the key from the ignition. You want it to naturally slide out so that you do not cause any damages to the ignition.

Check the key position – Older vehicles will have an older key cylinder. If you do then it is possible that your key has entered into the ignition at the wrong angle, causing the key to become stuck in the ignition.

The reason that these easy fixes have been presented to you is because these are the very things that have proven effective in the past and tend to work today. You could attempt to handle the problem on your own by using the suggestions we have presented to you or you can contact our locksmith services. There are some people who believe that they can handle the problem themselves whenever their key is stuck in the ignition but all they end up doing is making the situation worse. Avoid any damages to your ignition by heeding the suggestions presented to you above.

Choosing the Right Locksmith

The reason that so many problems occur is because people panic. When they panic, they usually react in a way that causes them further frustration. This is why it is in your best interest to rely on the services of a reputable and reliable locksmith. The best way to find one is to check the Internet review websites. Check the reviews of previous customers to get a good idea of whether or not they are a good locksmith company to rely on. You can also ask around to find out who other motorists rely on for their locksmith service needs, even then, you should go online to check their reviews. Most consumers are willing to provide their unbiased opinions about the services that they have received from a particular locksmith service. By selecting a reputable locksmith that is bonded, insured and licensed, you stand a better chance of getting the help that you need quickly. Don’t take unnecessary chances by just hiring the first locksmith that comes along.

A good locksmith is ready and willing to assist with your locksmith service needs 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. By offering these types of services, it’s clear that the locksmith service is concerned with pleasing their customer’s.
